Toshiba MV VFD and Switchgear
(2) 2500HP / 4160V Toshiba VFD’s and associated MV switchgear consisting of (2) bus feeder contactors, VFD output contactors, and (4) FVNR contactors for across the line operation.
This application incorporates full system redundancy. The design allows either drive to operate from two selectable, independent buses to start any of (4) 4000HP compressors. Once the VFD has brought the selected compressor up to speed, it is synchronously transferred to operate across the line. The whole lineup was installed in a climate controlled Power Distribution Center (33’ L x 10’ W x 10’7” H) prior to delivery to the end user.

Centrifuge Control Panel
Class I Division II centrifuge control panel featuring 100HP and 75HP Square D Altivar 71 drives with heatsinks mounted through the sides of the enclosure.
A key feature of this panel is that the 75HP backdrive (scroll) VFD is being powered directly from the DC bus of the larger 100HP main drive (bowl) VFD. This arrangement reduces the possibility of a DC bus overvoltage fault from occurring on the main drive during deceleration from the high inertial load. By fitting the VFD’s with fans rated for the hazardous area, and mounting the heatsinks outside of the cabinet we were able to reduce the overall size of the enclosure. This feature also eliminated the need for an air conditioning unit sized for the heat loss generated by the drives.

Compressor Station Control Panels
Station and ESD panels consisting of 480 digital and 96 analog points with room for future expansion.
These are 72x48x24 double sided, double door enclosures designed to upgrade an existing compressor station installation. In this case the end user wanted to change over to an Allen Bradley Control Logix platform. The bottoms of the enclosures were cut out to facilitate bringing the existing wiring through to terminate. The ESD panel included illuminated pushbuttons on the door that were also hardwired for actuation / visual indication of the valve statuses.
